Oligodendroglioma Brain Tumor | Diagnosed in 2019 | Cancer-Free

“Why not me?”

“I had no symptoms. I was 31, healthy, teaching, working out. I’d just finished a gym session when I had a seizure in the change room line. I woke up in an ambulance. My husband was making dinner for me when the paramedic answered my phone. He was told to meet me at the hospital—no one even knew who I was. They called me Jane Doe. A CT scan showed a baseball-sized tumor on the right side of my brain. I had emergency surgery. It was cancer.”

What God Has Done

“I knew from the start—God was in control. He gave me peace that didn’t make sense. He told me in my spirit: You’re going to be okay.
The tumor affected my left side, so I had to relearn everything—walking, standing, even going to the bathroom. But I learned to walk again in a week. The doctors were amazed. I wasn’t—I knew it was God.
I met the right people at the right time. Even my tough nurse softened and smiled at my sleeve joke.
My mother-in-law and I became close. My husband cried every night, but God gave him strength. Even my second daughter was an answer to prayer. Her name is Grace.”

Go-To Verses

Proverbs 3:5–6: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding…”
2 Corinthians 12:10: “That’s why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weakness… For when I am weak, then I am strong.”
John 14:6: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
“The Word is Him. There’s so much power in His Word to guide us through our daily struggles.”

How She Keeps Her Faith Strong

“Every morning, I get up early—before the kids—and talk to God. Just like a best friend. I do it on my phone, so I can keep a record. I read the Bible daily, I’m doing a one-year Bible plan, and I’m in small groups for women and marriage. I serve at church, and I love it—it fills me with joy.
I didn’t always pray with big words. But I always believed. I had a childlike trust: You said I’ll be okay, God. I believe You. That trust carried me through.”

Encouragement for You

“Don’t ask, Why me? Ask, Why not me? This journey grew me. It brought me closer to God, my family, even my mother-in-law. Through all of it, I’ve learned: You don’t have to understand everything to trust completely.
The Word of God gives peace when you’re weary. Jesus is with you. And if you just trust and let go—He’ll take care of the rest.”
